For the UK, begin with layerable items that can easily be taken off once the sun begins to shine. A pair of linen trousers and a women’s linen shirt over a swimsuit (in case you want to take an impromptu dip) is the best starting point.

If you’re travelling abroad and looking for the perfect beach club outfit - a bikini top and a light cover up like a linen dress would do nicely. Now you’ll need to think about what’s going into your canvas beach bag. Let’s always hope for sunshine but be prepared for every eventuality. Large beach towels are essential for any day at the seaside, and a packable deck chair if you’re planning on going to a coastline that’s remote. A refined pair of sunglasses are always needed, suncream - of course and a gorgeous book to dive into.

Thinking of staying at the beach for the whole day? Have an outfit ready to change into for those sundowners and alfresco dining to save time. A summer dress and pair of sandals would look and feel so elevated. Whichever colour palette you choose, try and incorporate pops of boldness and make a statement with your accessories like a chic straw hat and a tote bag.

STYLING FOR THE MODERN ADVENTURER

If you aren’t planning on relaxing all day, and are after a long stroll around a seaside town, you’ll need to keep things sensible. Think - sturdy shoes and comfortable and protective pieces. A baseball cap is ideal to shield you against the sun and a pair of ladies’ linen shorts with a lightweight vest top could be the perfect ensemble, remember to carry a handy bag, like a cross-body one, so your belongings are safe and to hand and maybe even a raincoat for if the weather were to turn.
