The polo shirt started on a horse. Back in the 19th century, polo players found their traditional long-sleeved shirts a bit too fancy due to the collars dancing around in the wind. They added buttons to the plackets to stop them whipping into their faces during a gallop.

Fast forward to the 1920s, a certain tennis legend called René decided he was tired of stiff ‘tennis whites’ and swapped them for a short-sleeved, breathable cotton pique. Since then, it’s been the uniform of the preppy, the polished, and the practical.

At Joules, we’ve taken that heritage and added a colourful twist - mixing a timeless look with a modern edge that works anywhere.

High Quality Finishes: We use twin-needle hem stitching and reinforced side vents with three bar tacks. Why? Because we know life happens - whether you’re swinging a golf club or chasing a toddler.

The Star Factor: Every shirt is pre-washed with a softener. This means it’s buttery soft from the first wear and, crucially, minimizes that annoying post-wash shrinkage.
