Product Details
This seemingly simple colouring book packs in knowledge and understanding of foods and their seasons while doing the relaxed and fun activity of colouring.
Each month features a page of calendar events, things to see in nature, festive foods, a page of seasonal fruits and vegetables, the character of the month, and a more complex scene from the story with background scenery.
This ties together the foods on the seasonal page in children’s heads alongside the events in their real life to make sense of the calendar and the seasons. For example, blackberries appear alongside school starting back, or rhubarb appears in the same month as pancake day.
The seasonal food pages make use of flags to show which foods can be grown in the UK and which are likely to be imported, to encourage children’s curiosity about where foods come from and to make supermarket shopping more interesting.
Children can try to find accurate colours for foods by looking at real fruits and vegetables or finding them online, and by doing so, they gently build familiarity with them so that they remember them when they appear on their plate. Or they can just use their imagination and create new rainbow foods!
This is a fun but sneakily educational gift which can add fun to shopping as well as play time. Can be used effectively in conjunction with the books but also works well as a stand alone gift.

About The Foodies Books
Seasonal food stories, games and activities to help children understand where food comes from, be excited about trying new things, and make the link between the seasons and their plate.
Feeding our children can be a joy but it can also be stressful, overcomplicated and full of anxiety. There is so much pressure on parents to feed their children "perfectly" and it can be overwhelming. The Foodies Books takes you by the hand and asks you to just focus on one thing - increasing your child's acceptance of fruits and vegetables, by having fun with food and increasing their familiarity with how fruits and veggies grow, cook, feel, smell and taste.
Let's have some seasonal foodie fun!
